Help Safe America Aid Haiti!

Share

…Safe America’s Task Force has suggested 4 areas of priorities for focus:

1.       Waste removal/processing – involving American resources, companies (with plans to work with ALAN on enlisting more American companies with waste disposal expertise to help with this)
2.       Protection of Orphans – helping bolster protective efforts for youth in the wake of massive family disruptions leaving children without one or both parents
3.       Creating more permanent housing – a focus on the finance and construction of new homes, especially earthquake and hurricane-proof structures (note: the Foundation is working with the Fuller Center for Housing and others on pre-built structures that cost $2,500 to $3,000 per unit and can be assembled in 2-3 days)
4.       Safety standards – creating standards not only for Haiti but the Caribbean – to set standards for safety that set a minimum for new construction and/or rebuilding of roads, bridges, buildings and homes

The Safe America ‘priorities’ will be the focus of ongoing meetings during the spring with other organizations including the American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN), IAEM, USAID and the U.S. Chamber’s Business Civic Leadership Center (BCLC).
